
A man from Putnam County, West Virginia has won a personal injury award of nearly $2.5 million for the injuries he sustained in an automobile accident that occurred in 2006.
Damages of $2,247,738.10 were awarded to Nicholas Paul Browning in the civil case of Yordan v. Kopchev and Alliance Transportation Group LLC, according to an order signed on September 29 by Putnam Circuit Judge O.C. Spaulding.
Browning, a resident of Hometown, West Virginia, sustained the injuries in an accident on April 11, 2006 when a vehicle owned by Alliance and driven by Kopchev struck Browning’s vehicle, according to the original complaint.
According to Spaulding’s judgment order, neither Kopchev nor representatives from Alliance were present for a hearing on September 26, though Browning and his attorney were. Also according to the order, the defendants had been properly served and given notice of the proceedings.
Browning received nearly $46,000 for past medical expenses and $400,000 for past pain and suffering, received more than $285,000 for future loss of earning capacity, received nearly $119,000 for future loss of household services, and received nearly $1.4 million for future pain and suffering.
