Attorneys at Brent Adams and Associates specialize in representing victims who’ve suffered ill side effects of prescription medications Ephedra and Vioxx. Beyond those drugs, our consultants are vigilant of dangerous drug interactions and erroneously filled prescriptions.
In a mid-August case in Bartow, Fla., a Polk County Circuit Court found Walgreen Company negligent in the wrongful death of Beth Hippely, who was given a prescription of Coumadin 10 times the prescribed dosage in 2002. Coumadin had been prescribed to treat Hippely’s breast cancer. The court ruled the filled prescription error resulted in Hippely’s cerebral hemorrhage, disability and physical pain. The stroke also forced a cancellation of her chemotherapy treatment. Years later, the stay-at-home, mother of three died at age 46.
The jury awarded the family a $25.8 million settlement. The lawsuit had been filed in 2003 by Hippely, her husband and the three children against the Deerfield, Ill.-based retailer for “negligent breach of duty and wrongful death.”
Court documents said the 19-year-old pharmacy technician who processed the prescription had insufficient training. Walgreen’s' policy states: “Technicians are not supposed to fill prescriptions without supervision and final approval from a pharmacist.”/p>
After the verdict, the Hippely family attorney, Chris Searcy said, "Beth Hippely died unnecessarily because this tenfold overdose of Coumadin by the pharmacy she trusted caused her cancer to come back with a vengeance and interrupted her cancer treatments. They have been seeking justice for five years and this was a case that screamed out for justice."

Question: I am only in my 20s. Last month I received
personal injuries in a vehicular accident and am now unable to work. Is there a
certain age I must be to receive benefits from Social Security disability?
Question: I'm receiving benefits from Social Security
disability for myself, my wife and my son based on my severe disability. I also
have a daughter by my ex-wife who used to receive child support from me when I
was still able to work. Now that I'm disabled, can my daughter receive benefits
too?
